Comic Strips about Seed Dispersal Ecology in Madagascar

With a science-communication grant from the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of California Berkeley, I partnered with Fleur de Bitume Art, a Malagasy artist to design Comic Strips on the main topics of Seed Dispersal Ecology in Madagascar. Initially, we presented and shared the Comic Stips in Malagasy to several primary and secondary schools in Antananarivo and community-led associations in Ranomafana, and Andasibe-Ihofa in partnership with the members of Association Ary Saina. More recently, we translated them in English and exhibited them during the After Dark series at the Exploratorium Museum in San Francisco with the Razafindratsima Lab.

Professional Services

After each field season, I present my preliminary results and academic history at the Mention Zoologie et Biodiversité Animale at the Université d’Antananarivo and other Malagasy institutions to foster collaboration with other Malagasy researchers and serve as a role model to the younger Malagasy scientists, especially young women. Additionally, I contribute to the scientific community by serving as reviewer for journals such as International Journal of Primatology, PloS ONE, and Ecology and Evolution. I also co-founded an association of Malagasy conservation biologists, Ary Saina, which aims to promote research results by Malagasy for education and conservation in Madagascar.

I volunteered for initiatives such as Teach for Madagascar and Ny Asako Rahampitso to expose young students to demystify Sciences and scientists and encourage them to pursue careers in STEMM (Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine). Since 2023, I have also been part of the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation‘s Thematic Photo Section and the Berkeley Chapter of the Society for Conservation Biology.
